I am working with Dreamweaver MX 2004. I am trying to add a server behavior-visit counter which I downloaded from Felixone. I have added it to my Extension Manager-no problem. I have gone through the testing of the server in all of the formats that this counter will work in-no problem.

The problem: When I insert the counter onto the page it changes my page from "index.html" to index.php. Why does it do that? I have tried to resave it as index.html but the counter does not appear. I have also saved it as index.php and the browser does not like that. What am I doing wrong? I had been using Microsoft FrontPage.

Thanks

It saves it in php because the code for the counter is in php, the only way the code will work. It will work with the php extensiton, as long as you dont rename it and rename it back.

Brian:

Thanks for your reply. After I insert the server behavior on the page. Dreamweaver saves that way because that is the only way the php code will work. If I save it on my hard drive and upload it to the server the way Dreamweaver changed it, it should work?
I guess I will have delete the page on the server that has index.html so that index.php will work?

Are these assumptions correct? If not, what is the correct way to upload and save the page with the php in it so it will work?

Thanks
