Don't use photoshop for "designing" icons, use a tool that is designed for vector editing rather than a bitmap tool such as photoshop.

Hello Aamir,

Have you tried IrfanView, the software is free and does pretty well for resizing without losing the quality of the graphic.

Another tip, I am using Corel's PSP, when resizing a large size graphic, I re-size in increments. You have a graphic 128 x 128, try resizing it at 50%, sharpen if you can, and re-size again. Sometimes this will work.

First you need to give access to ruler in photoshop, then put your icon on page and crop it according to ruler measurement.

In Image Size, try changing the resampling to "Bicubic Sharper".

Nearest Neighbor - Has no anti-aliasing so it'll have a lot of jaggies.
Bilinear - Faster than Bicubic sampling but produces medium-quality stuff.
Bicubic - The default setting. Still medium-quality stuff but better than Bilinear.
Bicubic Smoother - Like the drop-down says, "best for enlargement".
Bicubic Sharper - Like the drop-down says, "best for reduction".

^ Hmmmm, looks like the same Image Resizing format for Corel PSP......

I had another thought Aamir, if you could save the graphic to a .png instead of a .jpeg once reduced.

Standard methods for digital image manipulation, so every bitmap editor should have them.
