Anyone heard of Infranview? It's a small image editing program that's free, and very powerfull. I've used it for about a year now, and kinda like the program.
Just wondering if anyone else uses this program to, and what do they think about it.

I have it. It's OK for slideshows and the like. But... you don't actually do creative work with it, do you? I mean, it's no Photoshop. It doesn't even hold a candle to the Gimp.
Vallen JPegger is a similar tool, although IRfanview can play videos and JPegger can't.

I bloody hate it. (sorry for the profanity).
It does support a wide range of images but it always messes my computer up. I prefer the bog-standard preview of Windows.

I used it too in the past and I hate it too. I'm using ACDSEE - much better.

Irfan is a great image viewer. I provide one of their mirrors. However, if you want to get creative I would suggest:

I am using IrfanView for 3 years now, it's really fast and good for quick image manipulation like croping, I am also using this for Capture.
For thumbnails viewing I use CompupicPro, this is good for some Image effects.
For the Image editing part I use PhotoImpact 10.

For Quick editing and viewing I only use Irfranview. so simple and easy. quick load. Get all the extras and it plays music and videos, Flash. It does it all. One of my Favorites.

Irfanview -fast and very light for the system, doesn't load for hours and doesn't switch that long too, just click and it is there. Views graphics very well, sounds and videos are not one of it's favorite, it can have problems there.
For the guys who hate it for messing their computers -which dodgy windows are you using? (Don't worry, I use one myself, tried IrfanView on 98SE and Me, NO problems). I think you just had more programs and misconfigurated them all...
Anyway -you can have your other choices but this one is a great thing and it is free.
Cheers!

I've been using it for the last three years on four different computers with operating systems from Windows 98SE to various versions of XP. All downloaded from the internet. For free.
Never had one problem. If some Microsoft software worked half as well they'd be great programs.
Great for resizing bulk photos in no time with batch command. I've done thousands of photos with it.
Faster and better viewer in thumbnails than anything in Windows etc. I often run it to find photos quickly while I'm running PSP to manipulate them.
Has plenty of features for routine photo work, but it doesn't pretend to be and isn't PSP, Photoshop etc.
As a free program it's unbeatable. Even if you paid for it, it's still great for what it does and something that a lot of paid programs could aim for.

Just wondering if anyone else uses this program to, and what do they think it. Yes I use Micrografx Picture Publisher 7 ,I am trying to get a copy of PP 10. But for the last nearly two years I discovered Irfanview which was recommended best FreeWare in the What Digital Camera Magazine.
I particularly like the facility in Irfanview to Batch File convert , some of which are not even available for conversion in ADOBE Photoshop 7!!. Also the ability to display pictures from any file or drive at full screenwith file information displayed @ the top of the screen "Slide Show"

I downloaded my files of Irfanview from TUCOWS web site very professional. You may have noticed that the latest version in now 3.98. Also there is another update included for Irfanview Plugins about 3mb.
I hope you find this post of interest. Brian Wright

I downloaded Irfanview a while back so that I could make custom desktop icons and it worked good, that's the only time I really used it. I didn't have any idea you could play videos and stuff on it, that's cool!

Like Weboholic I've only used Irfanview when creating icons. In fact I've only used it to save an image in the .ico format. The I use IconEdit32 to edit the image.
