Does Brinkster even allow hotlinking? It's not very wise of them to do so...

Why is it that some sites don't allow hotlinking?

The free hosts don't usually like it because it wastes their bandwidth. They have to pay for all data transfer (including images) but when an image is displayed, it has no advertising for the host (or their sponsors). Its fine if that image is in a page on the host (as the adverts appear on the page), but linked to on a forum etc. means that they gain no benefit.

If you want to hotlink, go for a paid host, or even space from your ISP (they usually have less restrictions than other free providers). Of course you could always just attach the image to the post and make Chief pay for the data transfer instead
