I know where your coming from.

I was eager to create a Flash site a few months ago.

I started out with the trial and then went on to purchase Flash MX 2004 (ouch).

Try the book 'Flash for Dummies'. It's very, very useful and can really get you started. I also bought a book called The Flash Bible which is heavy reading, but it is very resourceful. Forums like this one are useful to. Also try http://www.macromedia.com/cfusion/we...cfm?forumid=15

Hope that helps.

As a beginer I used software from Amarasoftware but found that their applications we're very functional and produced decent flash images, scrollers & slides, they seemed to buggy to be used on a public website, my main concern with amarasoftware products was that when user-created links were clicked on it had a 25% chance of the visitor being directed to the amarasoftware website, maybe intentional I don't know but something like this should NOT be happening in commercial products.

I have question I just posted in another area asking about Xtivity. This seems to be exactly what you are looking for. I just got done messing around with the trial version and they have alot of templates that comes with it. Messing around with those for a while should make it easier to learn. I was just curious as to how good the soft ware actually was. Check it out and let me know what you think. I will post back after I give it a better look over. Good Luck!

The only way to extend the length of time with the product is to buy it ^_^, and yes, it is very much worth it if it's what you're going to use or need. If you only think you're going to use it, or if you're only going to use it one time or whatever, then don't buy it; just use the trial.

If you want to get an older version that's quite cheaper, look on eBay or another old-product seller, though there aren't many tutorials for the older versions. Most of them are for later versions, like MX 2004 and Flash 8, where most of the Actionscript is different, different layout, etc.

But yes, if it's what you want to pick up, then go for it, but don't buy it until you're absolutely sure that you want it.

I want to say that if you want to use Flash you need to have SWF Compressor-Decompressor. Believe me it's very useful. If you don't have it you can find it here: http://www.dcomsoft.com
