Hi
I am having trouble creating fading text.
I can get it to work on stage, but wheni preview it, it does nothing.

This is what i am doing:

1. create text
2. instert keyframe at 20
3. convert to movie clip in 1
4. set alpha to 0
5. convert to movie clip in 20
6. set alpha to 100 in 20
7. create motion tween

any ideas what i'm doing wrong?

I'm no expert, but I don't think you can use a motion tween to change the alpha.

Sorry can't be of more help!

This may not be right, but...

I think you have to create the motion tween before you set the alpha values. So you should..
1. Create first keyframe
2. Create second keyframe
3. Create motion tween between the too
4. Set alpha value in last keyframe (and first if needed)
5. Celebrate the joyous fading....(i hope )

This is just off the top of my head, but it sounds familiar from when I used flash last (a while ago...)

Hope it helps

To create fading text in flash....

1. Add Some Text

2. Right Click on the frame and click motion tween

3. Right click on the frame you want the effect to end (flash is 12 frames per second by default) and press add keyframe

4. Make sure the text is selected and go to properties

5. Click the colour dropdown box and click alpha

6. Set it to 0%

Hope that helps!

Also, if you're trying to convert it to a movie clip or graphic, make sure you do that before you create the motion tween. If you're just using it as a fade, and that's all, don't make it a movie clip, make it a graphic.
