What would you recommend you use to make background images similar to these. And also, I've made a background image with the diagonal lines but I can never get the lines to match up when the image repeats itself. How is this done?

Assuming you're using Photoshop, then use the Filter > Other > Offset feature to achieve this. It'll offset your image by a specific number of pixels so you can make sure it's tileable.

if you're just looking to make the bg images with out editing them... i have made a little tool to do just that which can be found at:

Use the generator named "background image generator" its free and easy to use.

There is a tutorial under "trendtorials" on background images also.

You making textures I assume.....?

If you space the lines evenly it should tile perfect for you. You can test it by setting it as your desktop background and chiose "Tile"

Keep tweeking it until you get it to tie correctly.
