Hope this is the correct forum to use for this question. I need advise on a printing issue I am having with a new printer that my boss is working with. - He made some sort of deal in trade with this printer.
Here's the problem:
I designed some coupons for a pizza box top. The ads are really quite simple mostly print - very little artwork and then it's only clipart. The problem I am having is that the printer claims that I used to tight of a registration on the text and artwork. But I have only used red/black/white on these ads. I made sure there was no misregistration with the colors touching each other. I did not outline the text, I stuck with one color for each line, etc...
The printer claims that I was supposed to have performed trapping and knockouts for the artwork (which I did do as an effect already) She also complained about the fact that the registration was too tight. I have only been a graphic artist for about 2 years but I have never had this kind of demand from a printer. My understanding was that real trapping is performed on the output device (printer). I work with approximately 4 other printers and they have never told me I had to do the trapping and knockouts for this simple kind of stuff.
Can anyone tell me am I wrong? Is the printer being unreasonable?
please advise. thanks
Mystical Pippin
