Hi, I am new to this forum and am a novice at using Dreamweaver. I am running xp which I think may be the problem..but not sure. I inserted flash buttons from the drop down menu in Dreamweaver and everything looks great until I load it into exlporer. The colors will change but the button doesn't prompt me to go to the given url. I'm not setting a target and the link is set at http://www. Any advice as to why this is happening and how to fix it? Also, I know the glich with xp is the pop-up box saying blocked content bla bla. I make my way past that and still no buttons working. Same thing with flash text. Would be grateful 4 ur help

In IE, You'll see pop up said:
"...To help protect Your security..bla..bla.." while You're offline. Click on and You'll probably see Your work.

I tried in DW MX2004 and DW 8 , on XP Pro, and I see no problem.
Also with Flash button and Flash text.

I don't know what's the problem.

Please, be more precise

I'm using Dreamweaver MX from studio MX suite. I did click on the pop-up box and I was able to view my work. The problem is the buttons will not show the hyperlink to the url that I have selected for it's destination. If I place the cursor over the button it will change colors, but it won't show the url at the bottom of the page nor will it proceed to url. It's like a dead link. I hope this is a bit more clear. I would think it's my software, but I had a friend try it on hers and same thing.

You must put link when You doing flash buttons.

You can change font, size, button style, etc ....and, of course, You must type URL.

You will not see link URL at the bottom, like on text links or image links...
It is Flash.

It is slightly different

Thanks Moondog..I thought you could test your flash in the browser window before loading it to your website. Is there a way to test flash before uploading or do you just keep fingers crossed and keep uploading files until one sticks? By the way..I did of course type the url link into the button attributes. That's why I was saying the button was set up correctly with all info except target, which I believe is not needed if it links to another url.

You don't have to upload Flash on web server only to see if it's OK.

Make some flash button or text (of course, with link pointing to URL, for example http://www.webmaster-talk.com).

Click on it and if You did everything OK, that URL will soon appear in Your browser.

You can check it localy on Your PC.

Ya that's what I was getting at. The url link exists with the buttons but when running in ie6 browser window, it doesn't give a prompt to that url. In other words..I create button with link to url. I run my page in ie6 or netscape and the button appears. It will change colors, but when you click on it, it doesn't show the url link. It acts as if the link itself is not set up correctly or it doesn't have a link. Under the link box I type http://www.blabla.com and it still doesn't go to that set url. OOh my head hurting. Makes no sense. I even checked 2 different ref books and it looks like I'm connecting it correctly.
