hello all,
i am in help of editing pics on website www.ascentsation.com.
when the pages load for womens fragrances, mens fragrances, unisex fragrances & gift sets the outside image of the square that was originally there is displayed (i used an online editor to "round" it and to add a border) i would like to have the white part to go away!

Part of the problem is all you did was add a rounded border on top of a SQUARE grahic and saved it as a JPG. The JPG is going to show a white background of the entire square graphic.

You'll have to remove the white corners and save the graphic as a GIF or a PNG. Unfortunately IE can't render transparent PNG's, so you'd be stuck with a GIF.

Using a GIF with a matte of the same color as your background you would get the image attached. That graphci should not show any white on your colored background. The other alternative is to 'paint' the corners with the same color as your background and then save again as a JPG, the corners should be invisible on the background.

You're going to need a graphic program to do this though.

LadynRed---
thanks for such a quick response! i'm sure at this point u do realize that i am a newbie among newbies.
other than going back & putting the border on the square pic--what Free program do you suggest i use?
it was suggested that i use jpegs on the site because i have so many pics & if were to use another format this would affect how fast the page loads??
is this correct?
again thanks,

you can still use a jpeg if you remove the corners of the images and use the same background/canvas colour as the web page (i.e that light pink) you may notice however a small difference in colour between the jpeg and the background so you may still have to resort to gif

there's packages such as the gimp http://gimp-win.sourceforge.net/stable.html or if you have a small budget then paintshoppro is pretty good
