In my site, my background changes with the browser size, and I would like to have a container with a drop shadow. Right now I am using a png with alpha transparency. BUt I would like to figure out another way to do this. Does anyone have any ideas? THanks

Regading transparency PNG's are the only real file format that will support this, you might be shooting yourself in the foot abit trying to achieve it. Is it essential for your site just out of interest sir?
no its not essential. I just really like having drop shadows. I'm thinking of doing an inside shadow instead. It would be easier. I think I'll try the ie hack, and if it doesn't work, opt for no drop shadow.
