Hey, hey!

Can anyone tell me what a good image software program would be? I would like one that could do somethimg like this:
http://www.celica.net/ (the top part)

I believe they use "layering"? But how do they go about the part up top that says celica.netv2? Help me please!!!! (man, that sounds desperate. Oh well, i need to know!)

Eye candy quite simply is one of the coolest plugins available for PS and Fireworks. It has roughly 100 filters that perform a number of sweet effects.

Also Paintshop pro from ( http://jasc.com ) is a good and cheaper alternative from the two listed above.

For the ultimate in frugality. Try the GIMP. It is an open source graphics program with capabilities that equal (some say exceed) those of Photoshop. I haven't used it since PS five was the latest version but back then it was an excellent program. One of its coolest features is its bumpmap filter. Excellent in tangent with a 3D graphics program.

Is there any really good software like photoshop for free? I'm a broke college student. Or could I download photoshop for free anywhere? Just curious.

Thanxs

Read the post above. The GIMP is a high quality image program that can read and write in the Adobe PSD format. And it's free. You can find out about it at www.gimp.org
