It only "bends" out of shape if you're dealing with raster (bitmap) graphics. This is what photoshop creates. You will want to use a vector image software, illustrator and fireworks are the most common, though the gimp (free) also has some vector support.
There is also the possibility of buying a logo. Posting in the graphics design competition forum with a small reward is a great, and pretty cheap, way to go. Make sure to give as much detail about what you're looking for as possible.
