Hi I was just wondering why when I save an image as JPEG it doesn't look clear. However when other sites like CBS.com post JPEG images on their site it looks very clear.
This is how my JPEG images look;
This is how the image looks like at CBS.com
So when I saved the image through my computer using MS Paint it became 13KB no 19KB and became less clear.
The image is overoptimized. What graphics software are you using? Check your save options and see if there are automatic optimization settings you can change.

He said hes using Ms paint.
Any way they probably use photoshop and when exporting a JPEG of an image you can adjust the sharpness and quality of the image they are exporting so it looks better and more clear. You can do this with lots of image editing software so i suggest you go onto download.com and look aroung for a image editing software for you to be able tohave this option idealy look for the spec saying "JPEG EXPORTING ABILITIES" this means that you will have the option to change the sharpness and quality of the image
Hope this post helped if it did please add to my talkupation
OK so I downloaded this program called PaintBuster from Downloads.com and in the Preference Menu I have this;
So what I did is set the compression for JPEG at 0%. Now my main news image is 28,110 bytes and this image is on the main page. Is 28,110 bytes small enough for a main image or is it too large and will take lots of bandwidth?
One more thing to keep in mind and this is a biggie, every time you save a jpg file with compression you lose a little quality. Never compress them until you are finished with the editing and enhancing.
If you took that photo from somewhere online more than likely it has already been compressed at least once.
Yeah I know they are always compressed when I get them from other sites but I always resize to fit my site so it messes up. However I got the right software now and I know how to compress JPG, GIF and PNG images.
