Hello Everyone,

I was looking at a lot of people's websites and I really like the web 2.0 look, How would I achieve that when I am doing my websites?

Thanks,

Web2.0 aesthetics are hella easy to create, all you need is some gradients, bright colours, reflections and maybe some 45 degree lines. If you Google you'll find some tutorials that cover the photoshop techniques like this one.

That's ridiculous. The concept of Web2.0 is so radically different from what it should be. Apparently it, to some people, is just a "look", these days.

Yeah, I realize that, but when the term was coined, I'm certain that wasn't the intent.

As far as I recall, it was more to do with services like MySpace and Facebook and the like, rather than a visual theme.

The guy was asking for the "web 2.0 look". I'm pretty sure he meant the visual style.

And I'm well aware of that. I wasn't criticizing him for it, certainly; I was referring more to the idea in general, and that clearly isn't his fault.

Big Bold Fonts, bright gradient colors, reflective logos, beta everything... Personally I think its better to create your own 'style or look' but if you look at sites like http://myweb2.search.yahoo.com/ then you can see what goes on.

Web2.0 "visual" would be clean designs, straight to the point information with user friendly navigation. You will need to know when you've overdesigned because Web2.0-like things are meant to be simple and easy on the eyes.

As for coding, clean (again) table-less CSS/XHTML, Ruby (o/ Rails), AJAX.

In short, it should look great and work great.
