My very first vector drawing is in the holloween fun contest. I enjoyed making it so today I was playing around with vectors in psp and had an idea for a logo I was working on.

I put a lot of work into this and learned more about the frustration and the fun of working with vectors. Unfortunately I only hae a mouse to draw with and psp was definitely not being friendly towards editing the vector properties (kept erroring out - I learned to save often). Anyway here is my second vector drawing.

I think that looks fantastic. Especially since you are new to drawing vector images. Great work!

Thanks angele and MyWorksWeb. This definitely was an experience and took me a long time to make. It has prompted me to upgrade my software and look into other input devices.

I was so tickled after it started taking shape and turning out the way I was planning that my daughter thought I was loosing my grip LOL. Will keep working at this and hope to some day create effects I've seen others use here.

Well, I was pretty proud of it. I need to find some tutorials that give tips on gradients, highlighting and shading. Oh and a tablet might be nice too. This is mouse drawn.

Will keep working on it.

If you get a tablet, I would start out with a fairly inexpensive one. Wacom is a good brand (and they can get really really expensive). I say to start out with an inexpensive one, because you might find you dont like using tablets. I bought one and worked with it for a while, and found that I prefer using the mouse. But I know a lot of people swear by their tablets. You will just have to see for yourself if you like to use them. It will also take some practice to get used to it, so dont give up if you dont get it right away. Good luck and I think you are really talented!

I've only used a tablet at my old work, but my job was not graphics design, so I can't really say either way toward that aspect, but it did have a bit of a learning curve, about a week of decent use for me. I deffinately want to pick one up to really improve my graphics skills.

Was this for the graphics contest for the dogs choice website contest? It looks great, keep at it.

Thanks Nahele.

I do expect it to take a little getting used to and a lot of practice. I actually draw better with my mouse than I do a pencil LOL. It's just that the mouse is sloooow.

This image was for a logo contest for a pre-teen sunday school group called D.I.G. He was drawn to be standing on top of the letters to look like he was digging. So far it's one of the few that has received good feedback (contest isn't closed yet) so I think the image was effective.

The DogsChoice contest is my own. I can think up cool stuff for others but have gotten burned out on my own site and need fresh ideas.

Boy - that sounds familiar. My hubby used to say that too LOL. Now he knows to just let me enjoy it.

Thanks. I know how you feel about getting excited. Sometimes when something is coming together just right I can help but giggle. My daughter thinks I'm nuts and no longer gets excited about my contined "hey, come look at this!".

lol! I can relate too. My fiance thinks I am crazy to have the patience to teach myself how to do all this stuff (Fireworks, Flash, Illustrator, Photoshop, etc.). He tried to learn to draw in fireworks but gave up after a few hours. He may think I am nuts, but then I think he is crazy because he can spend 7 hours straight playing a video game!

borzoid, depending on certain angles, you can make a selection and use gradient tool, just use pen tool, create a selection, and you can make a gradient on something you want to have that gradient look, or you could make a selection and use feather to have that fade on a color, i mainly use pen tool for alot of the things without needing to use the blends on the layers

Thanks for the tip. I just upgraded to psp XI. I haven't used the blend tool (not sure if PSP has that) but I will look for it and play with different effects.
