How do I get it without paying? Borrow it...
And by borrowing you mean pirating?

I would like to point out that I just landed a full time designer gig using nothing but Paint Shop Pro for all my work. When asked what tools I use so he could load up my computer with them he was relieved that I used cheap software effectively.

When I have to do simple stuff like crop something and cut-paste I use Photoimpact. That's all I'm willing to do with it, although 2 years ago I was it's biggest fan, because Photoshop was to hard for me I couldn't see what's with the layers ... after I got it, I moved to Photoshop and it's been the "standard" for me ever since. PSP ... tried it, didn't like it.
All my work is done mainly in Phoroshop and I think my sites are not ugly ...
Each day I discover new things and love it even more.

PhotoShop, PSP, PhotoImpact heck even Paint... Are these not just the tools we use? If a designer is able to create, his/her goal using whatever program is he/she wrong? Is there are "better" program to use? Doubt it. I have seen some designers work, initially I want to say "WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!?! Why don’t you do it this way blah blah blah..." until I see the result they are able to achieve. In my experience its never about the programs (tools) we use, its all about the designer.

To say all that, I do prefer PhotoShop. I have been using it for over 10 years and it’s quite difficult to drop it and go elsewhere.

I have to say I really love photoshop. I've used several versions over the last few years and still have new things to learn. I teach using PSP, though, because it's more economical for students.

I took the time to actually learn PhotoShop, although it was time consuming I can now see the advantages. While PSP 9 is very good the file quality produced is sub-standard compared to PS.

Ouch! Well, cptn, there is an entire community of PSP users who would strongly disagree. This is a common sentiment, however, among Photoshop owners. I wonder if this position isn't sometimes taken to justify that purchase price....

Photoshop is the best bitmap software out there.

I do like corel too...when talking about vector design.

I know people who do sites in corel..and it looks awesome as well.

Cheers,
Jan
