Howdy...

I am pretty much a Flash novice and I am trying to embed my first movie into a live page... Anyway it seems to come up fine in IE 5.2, Safari, and Netscape...

However on older versions of IE (as Far as I can tell, 5.0 on back...) The movie does not load, all I get is a white box that says "Movie Not Loaded"

This has been very frustrating and I have been trying to troubleshoot to no avail... Every suggestion I can find too I seem to have already tried...

thanks for looking,

pat

this is the html code i used...

"
<tr>
<td width="760" height="90" colspan="4" valign="top" bgcolor="#FAE22F">
<!-- URL's used in the movie-->
<A HREF=http://www.legalmedicalstaffing.com/contactinfo.html></A> <A HREF=http://www.legalmedicalstaffing.com/corporate.html></A>
<object classid="clsid27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000"
codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=6,0,0,0"
width="760" height="90" id="lmsChangingHeader2" align="">
<param name=movie value="lmsChangingHeader2.swf">
<param name=quality value=high>
<param name=bgcolor value=#FFFFFF>
<embed src="FLASH/lmsChangingHeader2.swf" quality=high bgcolor=#FFFFFF width="760" height="90" name="lmsChangingHeader2" align=""
type="application/x-shockwave-flash" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer"></embed>
</object></td>
</tr>
"

Is there anything you can see in there that I would need to add or delete???

what are ActiveX components??? And where might I alter them on someone else's computer???

thanks for the help folks...

It's always good to export your .swf as in a lower version of the Flash player. I generally create mine and export as Flash 4 player. This guarantees that everyone who views it, regardless of browser-type will be able to play it. Hope this helps!

Thanks, I actually figured that might help and triend a few weeks ago... It fixed it on the oldest version I was testing on my comp (4.5?) which wasn't working before so I was really excited and figured it would work for her too... She says it hasn't... I have a meeting with her tomorrow so I will see on her cpu what it looks like... (or dosn't look like ) tomorrow...

Thanks for the input folks, I appreciate it.

the client brought up her laptop today...

She is running IE 6.0 and Flash 6.0 is apparently installed...

But the movie does not load on the screen on her screen and also for some reason some javascript doesn't show up (but the exact same code shows up fine on her computer on an almost indentical page that doesn't have the flash banner...)

On her screen I typed in the address where the movie was and it played fine right in her browser... So I am completely boggled right now...

Has anyone encountered anything like this before???

the page in question is :
http://www.legalmedicalstaffing.com/home_CHANGING.html

the .swf file [that she could see by itself] is :
http://www.legalmedicalstaffing.com/...gingHeader.swf

I also noticed some other pages come out looking sloppy on her computer

Your page works completely fine with Firefox, but with my IE 6.0, neither the flash nor the javascript work.

How did you go about making the page? Frontpage? Dreamweaver? Hand-coding?

Something about 6.0 seems to be the culprit...

I used dreamweaver, but I generally hand code it, I mostly use dreamweaver because for the most part the code is color-coated and I do not currently own a program like EditPlus or BareBonesEdit...

Do you think the fact that it came from dreamweaver would effect it???

Wanted to confirm my efforts:

1) uninstalled all adobe products
2) uninstalled google
3) uninstalled and reinstalled java
4) reinstalled java, then adobe

It appears the Advertisements are not being displayed
- normally this is a welcome relieve, just like the "missing" popups.
But for a site like www.shockwave.com
which forces you to watch a movie/ad
before your daily fix of Jigsaw online... it stops you dead!

Read about Eolas and Microsoft lawsuit - which may be related.

Also read about Doubleclick (and yet another lawsuit).

And yes, I tried loading adobe flash 7 and 8.

No one has mentioned this but:
Is this isolated to ALL internet explorer 7? (6 too?)

Is this isolated to VISTA operating systems or XP as well?
