Is there a way to compress or optimize images that have aready been imported into a movie in Flash 8? I have a large movie I built and I no longer have access to the photos I used to build it. I don't know how to get the photos out of the library and into an image editing software to make them lighter.

Have you saved the photos as objects or have you left them as JPG's ?

You can export graphics from a FLA file.

How, this would probably answer my question.

Newbie here, don't know what you mean. In the library they say they are bitmaps but if I check out the properties they say they are .jpg. I didn't save them as anything, i imported to the library before I started building the movie.

Once you drag the graphic to the stage, you should convert it to a graphic OBJECT.

Exporting -- Export Image, Save As JPG.

Thank You! Works great, I had no idea how to do that, but now I have another question, The bitmap properties say "Lossless original =1408.2 kb, compressed =210.8 kb, 14% of original" but when I export it as .jpg it is only 15.4kb without me doing any mods to the file. What gives?

A JPG is going to be compressed by default.
