Hello everyone i am new to web and graphic design and are keen to learn but have some question and need some advice.

which is the best software to yous to design logo's and graphics photoshop cs3, illustrator cs3, firework cs3 and jasc paint shop pro ?

Do you need to be really good at drawing by hand ?

Where is a good place to learn graphic design free on the web ?

What is indesign cs3 used for and what dose it do ?

Can anyone point me i the right direction of some Ebook's on logo and graphic design ? i don't mined paying for the Ebooks.

I like using Fireworks and find it gives me everything I need, while being quick and easy to learn. There was a thread posted recently by someone asking for Fireworks resources if you're interested: http://www.webmaster-talk.com/macrom...-tutorial.html

For logos, try to use vector application like Adobe Illustrator. Of course that Photoshop or similar bitmap appz is also suitable.

For learning graphic design, there's a bunch of tutorials all over the net. Find on Google something like graphic tutorials and You'll see a lot of links.

InDesign is software for desktop publishing and layouts (for example: newspapers, magazines, brochures...etc...).

For making a good logo the most important thing is : IDEA!

Illustrator is the primo app, but Xara Xtreme will do the same things for hundreds of dollars less. XaraX runs around $100. Same goes for Photoshop - it's the primo app but PaintShop Pro will do just about everything PS can do for far less $$ and Fireworks is still very good too.

There are tons of tutorials on many techniques, but to really learn graphic design you're not going to get that from free tuts on the web - it means classes or at least a LOT of reading BOOKS.

InDesign replaced PageMaker

Totally agree with Lady'nRed about Xara X. Nice application, and, of course, less money for great tool.

If you only want logos (and other web GFX like ecovers, buttons or banners) try Web Graphics Creator. It is much cheaper than most high-end software and it come with lots of GFX you can use. For me as a programmer who has to do some GFX occasionally this software is great although for a graphics pro the dummy-approach the software uses might be a run-off....
(crashes once in a while on a PC but I still like it)
