Any idea where I can find a set of 16x16 pixel icons representing different types of roads? Interstate highway, US back highway, state route, et cetera. My latest blog post includes some car directions from Seattle to some pretty nice parts of the mountains, and I'd like to style the text with icons next to the names of different roads, according to what they are.

If it's not clear what I mean, the way I styled the links on this page, with one icon for an exe from the local site and another icon for an app from Windows Update. Or, on Google Maps, I-5 has an icon showing it's an interstate highway.

Where might I find a set of these, for the US and Canada? Not that there are very many different types of roads in these two countries; I don't need state level detail.

I found bigger versions of different highway signs on Wikipedia that are public domain, so I shrunk them to 16x16 and used gif format with transparency ... they started out as png files in most cases.

I'd done a lot of searching for travel related icon packs, but kept finding ones with trucks, cars, planes, etc. It took me a while to figure this out, so if anyone else runs into the same problem, there's the solution.

Any comments on how I put the icons to use?
