This has to be easier than I'm making it.

I have a client that wants the date/time a form was submitted to be a field identified in the form mail he receives. I told him to look at the email date/time but he wants to copy/paste the fields (including date/time received) from the email into a client tracking database. How can I add a field to the form mail with the date/time of the form submission?

In addition, users can request several different kinds of quotes from different forms. How can I place a form-specific, static comment on each form identifying the form itself in the form mail?

In my opinion form mail is not a very good way of sending form results...

I guess you could make a javascript that would write the current time...but you should ask that in the Javascript forum.

I don't know of any ways to show the current time with only HTML.

What kind of formmail script are you using? Is it a cgi script, or is it php, asp, or coldfusion?

I think that he means formmail, not a server-side sender. Have you not heard of the formmail option in HTML?

Its really not an option in html but a cgi script that runs from the server; probably the one written by Matt. Did you know that Matt was 13 years old when he wrote the original formmail cgi script.

Anyway. That probably is true, but, when you make too many assumptions, you will find yourself barking up the wrong tree way to often.

Before I give a suggestion I usually do my best to truly understand the entire situation. This not only saves me time and effort, but, also, provides the best help... Just my style.

I assumed this before and after time passed found out that they were using an asp formmail script. Experience has taught me to "ask questions" first!
