Is your domain name linked to your account or 'pointing' to your website?

Well usually when you login to your hosting, you can edit your domain name settings, you need it to point to the IP Address of your website.

no, it should just point directly to your websites IP no specific folder, it may take a while to actually point to it, but thats all, nothing else should need to be done.

Make sure you name your home page index.html instead of welcome.html. The browser (firefox, IE) looks for this page.

You don't point your domain to the IP of your host. You should first put an addon domain in your host then point your domain to your host's nameservers.

Nope, the server looks for the page to serve out to a browser.

Nope.

The nameservers point the domain name to the IP of the web server the site is hosted on.
