Hello, I am a fairly new webmaster. I have created a layout in adobe photoshop. I imported it into illustrator and made slices for the layout. I then imported into dreamweaver. I am having some issues.

Sometimes when i add text or images to the tables, it effects other tables and then they are no longer aligned.

My second issue is to embed a flash file in the form of html from another website (with permission). It is a news ticker. When I attempt this it doesnt want to go inside the table and distorts the alignment of all of the other tables. Is there a certain area of my HTML that I need to place the tag?

If someone could help me with maybe some basics to tables it would be greatly appreciated!

The Problem: Tables.

The Solution: forget everything you ever learned about table layouts. Use CSS.

I'm also pretty sure you meant ImageReady, not Illustrator...unless you did File > Export > Paths to Illustrator. This isn't what you want.

You want (in photoshop) File > Edit in ImageReady

ImageReady has a CSS slicing option that you can try:

in ImageReady, go to File > Output Settings > Slices and then select Generate CSS

Hope this helps

I wouldn't recommend using ImageReady either, it spews horrible code, even it's css is atrocious.

AS for the flash, make sure you're NOT using the <embed> tag either. See the stickies for alternate solutions.

I use Dreamweaver 2004... Dreamweaver is not a great program when coding with tables. What you see in Dreamweaver is not usually what you see in Internet Explorer. Coding in CSS is a safer option.... But often I spend a lot of time trying to work out problems with complex table layouts.

Try using Fireworks for your slices.... I feel it works better for dreamweaver.
