Well, this will be my first thread, and first post, while I'm in the process of starting my first website. I actually could use some help. What I'm trying to find is either a template that I might build off from or the specific code I'm looking for. What I'm trying to design is a community webpage where people who need help can sign up and find some encouragment for whatever they might be going through. I need the code or hopefully a template with "membership" capabilities. Whether HTML PHP CSS ect. it doesn't matter I can find my way around most of it. Can someone help me out please?

Try using a CMS (Content management system). Google it for more info or post in the php forum, regarding which CMS you need. Make sure to include what capabilities you are looking for.

You are looking for a forum, so users can post threads and then other users can give them advice? If so you might want to take a look at these:

phpBB: This was one of the first forum software packages I used. There are lots of mods and themes available, its easy to use and best of all its free.

vBulletin: In my opinion, this is the daddy of forum software. Loads more features than phpBB, and also loads of free mods and themes available. You have to pay for the software, but when you look at the features, its worth every penny.

But if you are looking for a CMS like Matt suggested, you might want to post a little more information or try Google. TBH, I haven't really played with CMS so I can't really advise you on which one to use.

Sounds like your after a message board script. Hamesy suggested two good choices in his reply, though I'd also like to give a mention to PunBB.

If you want something full of features go with Hamesy' suggestions. If you want something simple and lightweight then PunBB is definately the way to go in my opinion

Hmm, a Forum might be in the website somewhere but I was thinking more along the lines of "myspace" where you are to create a user profile ect. and may be able to talk to other people/search for other people going through some of the same problems. Do I really need a CMS for this? I was hoping whatever code I used could just have all thier information stored on whatever server I chose to host the website. Unless thats all a CMS is ?
