Hello everyone,

I've been working on a half flash, half HTML site, and as far as most of it goes it works great. However I now have one page which is subborn on IE 6 and IE 7. It works great in FireFox and Opera however.

The problem page is http://www.drunknmunky.eu/munkymuzik.html

While it does load eventually, it hangs for over 60 seconds and also doesn't correctly load the music player (it should look like it does in FireFox).

I was wondering if someone could take a look at the code and tell me if anything is wrong or what could possibly cause this problem to occur. I have a deadline of mid-week next week to have this working when the site goes fully live.

A few notes:
- The flash is embedded, in most places, in javascript. This allows it to work in internet explorer to begin with.
- The site must be functional how it is now even after an implemented fix. I can't really remove something if its causing the problem. It would have to be properly fixed (if you understand what I mean).

Thanks to everyone in advance who is willing to help me.

Andrew

Your code is a bit of a mess, lots of missing and unclosed tags. Fix all those first and you might find it works for IE.

Hello,

Unclosed tags don't cause browsers to hang. I've been coding for over 4 years and I've never come across browser hangs due to unclosed tags.

I'm suspecting its something to do with the flash or the JavaScript.

Well I've been coding for over TEN years and unclosed tags may not cause a hang, but it's sloppy coding and causes many validation errors - which you have.

In addition, IE does NOT support XHTML 1.1 doctype.

How big is the flash file ?? It took several minutes for it to load on my IE6 here. Do you have a pre-loading for it if it's large ?

The flash is under 500KB, but should already be cached for the top and the left. Only the player has to load from fresh. This is the only problematic page I have.

IE may not support XHTML 1.1 doctype but this is the first problem I've ever had when using it.

I've also just been told the deadline for a fix is today.
