I have heard that no-follow links does not transfer the PR juice to the sites so I want to make a no-follow link but don't know how to make it.

for example I have this code
<a href="http://www.smartpixels.net" target="_blank">Smart Pixels</a>

How can I make this link a no-follow link, Please guide me.

Thank you

Got it

Thanks for the help.

For the readers who don't know about it here is the code that makes a link a no-follow link.

Example code: <a href="http://www.smartpixels.net" target="_blank">Smart Pixels</a>

No Follow Code: <a href="http://www.smartpixels.net" target="_blank rel="nofollow">Smart Pixels</a>

A link with the rel="nofollow" attribute instructs spiders (e.g. search engine spiders) not to visit it from the referring page.

Here's a Google engineer's explanation of the subject.

I guess since we're asking, what's the difference between a nofollow and external nofollow? In practical terms?

Also there is such WP plugin - making your links nofollow. Because it was
moder to have such a strategy - Well, what can I say - this helps only if you are sending your visitors to the affiliate site throu your ID.

Nofollow can apply to an internal or an external link. External just explicitly states the relationship. I've never really seen a benefit to it, so I don't use it personally. It's pretty obvious when absolute links are used which are internal and which are external.

So in practical terms, I'd be inclined to say nothing.

Be nice tripy! You can find the answer to almost anything in Google but it does not mean it should never be asked here. I found it a good question for those that may have not known what nofollow was in the first place and wouldn't know to ask.

If you don't want certain pages on your website indexed at all with Google, use the noindex tag (if you link to it, use a nofollow pointing to it):

<META NAME="GOOGLEBOT" CONTENT="NOINDEX, NOFOLLOW"> or
<META NAME="ROBOTS" CONTENT="NOINDEX, NOFOLLOW">

There may sometimes be pages on you website where a nofollow would be desired. For example, here on the forums there are numerous pages that Google does not need to follow or pass PR juice (WT's recent PR drop was caused by something else).

For example, we nofollow our "Mark Forums Read" link, "Edit" post link, "Quote" link,
"specific post number" links etc...

Strange thing to say, I thought this Forum was about sharing ideas and helping other members with help and advise.
Yes we all know google is there, but surely they get enough traffic so why send them more?.
I would have thought the Forum would be gratefull for members posting, and its members for the info provided?

Just my opinion.

That's true, and I would not have bashed like that if the question was "what is a nofollow link", but how do you create one, come on....
I stand my case.

But anyway, it's party time !
I've got my first negative TP ! Yay !
Back to 1988, that's much better.
I never liked the 90's that much. Too many boys band.

Midlandi

I totally agree with you. Forums are for sharing knowledge. If this question has not already been asked, then I think Jani has done a good job by posting the question as now when users search in Google, this may be the thread which appears and therefore will bring more traffic to the forum.

I third that! People feel unwelcome when they get such a snotty response.
