I am in desperate need of some help combining a site search and a web search for my site. I want to have radio buttons that say site search and web search. Right now all i have is a site search i have looked all over trying to find a way to have both searches in one and have visitors choose either web or site search.

Can someone help or point me in the right direction?

Thanks in advance

Both Google and Yahoo offer free site/web search code. Either would be your easiest solution. A quick search should lead you to either or both.

the thing is we have a yahoo partnership with them. i just want a form where i can have radio buttons to select whether you want to search the site or search the web. through yahoo our search results are wrapped around our site templates instead of shooting you to a yahoo page. i think i might need to do it with javascript to where you select one of the buttons and it chooses that form to process the query. Im just not that great at it and our guy who usually does this is out today.

I'm not sure what you mean by having a Yahoo partnership with them. Is them Yahoo?

What you're thinking about using JavaScript will probably work. The basic idea would be to add the radio buttons to the form and then based on the user selection either search your site as you're doing now or search the web.

The hard part is how are you going to search the web? You're likely going to need results from a search engine (I assume Yahoo). That's why I suggested their search form since it will make it easier to search Yahoo.

I guess the simplest way to search the web would be to take the users input and send a query directly to Yahoo. For example if you search Yahoo for 'web design' no quotes the URL looks like

http://search.yahoo.com/search?p=web+design

You'll need to write something to grab the query and append it to the basic Yahoo search URL. That's still going to take someone off your page though.

try siginin up for google adsense, they give you a SITE SEARCH and NET SEARCH AD, and also could help you get funded.
