I am failry new to HTML, XHTL and CSS and all my learning has been through reading books from my local library and also using the W3schools. Can someone recomend other learning resources? I have been using dreamweaver MX {code view} and I was just wondering wether it would be worth it to upgrade to CS3? Is this the best WYSIWYG?

Yeah probably is best to upgrade, but there won't be a lot of difference, as I have cs3 and wasn't a lot different to 8. I don't bother anymore with these programmes, as I just use notepad to build a site from scratch, but the best way to learn is to keep on doing it totally from code, stop using wysiwyg editors and you'll soon pick it up. Try to learn some php also, as there are a lot of tutorials on the web, and this will put you in good stead for content management and e-commerce sites in the future.

I agree with the guy above - start working directly with the code itself and throw out WYSIWYG editors completely! It's by the far the best way to start picking up HTML, CSS and other coding languages - it also produces much more lean code as WYSIWYGs are notorious for producing unneeded code.

For coding on Windows, I recommend using Notepad++ - it highlights the syntax which really helps and it's free!

Oh we love free stuff LOL :-D

Yeah i agree stay away from dreamweaver, it sucks you in and makes you lazy and doesnt get you anywhere because you have not learned HTML & CSS - I got caught in that trap!
Learn the code - it will open more doors for your web site!

If you are coding mostly by hand, then I do not think you need to upgrade to CS3. If you are truly using the wysiwyg part, then you might benefit from the upgrade.
