1st lesson - THEY ARE NOT LAYERS! The 'layers' term is a holdover from ancient Netscape. They are DIVS.

If you want to learn to center, read the stickies, -specifically this one:

ok ,still this is al new for me ,and it will take me a lot of time to understand some of this htlm code and other codes.I thougt when I choose the tool "draw a layer " (in dreamweaver)the selection it automatic a layer.So I want that this layer or div will stay on his place where i put it in my workspace.when I preview it in my browser the position of the layer has changed.It is the layer 1 in my example.Can somebody give me the correct code for this problem :www.apfunnjumpers.net/proof.html.

The dreamweaver tools makes the layers absolute you need to delete that from the css panel and put everything in a container and set that with:

#container {
margin:0 auto;
width:860px; Change to what ever you want.
bottom:0;
}

Download one of these blank templates I did these in Dreamweaver http://www.dragonstardesign.com/page...templates.html just an example of how to position your layers in Dreamweaver

fyi, that bottom:0; is not necessary and is, in fact, completely useless. That sort of thing only works on absolutely or relatively positioned elements.

Koenraad, you need to do some reading up on CSS and HTML - start here: www.w3schools.com

I would like to take a moment, on the behalf of those who don't speak Geek as their native language. You can tell us to read this and read that, but it may not click. Much like I could go into detail about the difference between 4:4:4 colorspace and 4:2:1 colorspace in video cameras, and you likely have no idea what I'm talking about.

Sometimes we need to have it explained in terms we can understand. Algebra and Geometry were the same for me. I didn't start to "get it" until the end of the course... when my wife broke it down for me.
