We've all seen those MySpace pages that advertise their services with an HTML link, or an image that appears on our page after we put their code in our "About Me" section.

I was interested in the idea of not allowing the Novice HTML familiar person to just delete the last few lines of my code, so my ad-link remains on their webpage for as long as they should use my code.

Any suggestions on how to pull this off?

You could confuse them by adding a bunch of extra code in there so they don't know what to delete.

If they are truly novices, you can just use simple percent encoding to obfuscate the code.

Have the entire thing be output using a javascript .js file that is on your server, that way you can edit it as you want and have the changes show up.
