Hi everyone!, I don't even know if I have asked this question in the right category, as I am not good with webmaster language. I have a website which I have made in dreamweaver, about a year ago, and am pretty happy with the outcome. But I have added a few new pages in the last week and was adding to the existing sitemap and have realised that in all of the new pages where there is a space in the address of each page there are percentages, would you know how to fix this? Thankyou so much in advance!....kind regards Kim

P.S. Also I was fiddling around with it the otherday and for some reason, the gaps between the LHS buttons have got larger, i had them previously closer togeather, is there anything that I should look out for in the code to change this?

the %20, as far as I know, cannot be removed. obviously you can't have a space in the URL. It's much better to not have any spaces in teh file names, anyway. As far as the buttons, without looking at your code I can't be sure (i'm too lazy to check right now) but It might be a cell-padding or spacing issue. IMO, it looks fine the way it is and owuld be a llittle too cluttered if they wre closer toghert. But that's just my opinion.

Yep,
don't have filenames with spaces

You shouldn't really have lots of hidden links to a "sales pitch" page either BTW. They don't really help you know, because it's the anchor text that is the most useful bit of links.

An easy fix is to replace the spaces with the underscore character _ to get rid of the %20 in your URL's.

Actually, the underscore isn't a good idea either, people often don't see the underscore. Better to use dashes.

Hmmm. I seem to recall seeing my URL's with dashes transformed in a similar way to the space issue (ie. the dash was replaced with %something) but hadn't seen this with the underscore. Am I wrong about this?

dashes don't have to be replaced. actually dashes and underscores are the only special characters that don't get replaced in filenames. domain names can even have dashes.

Use either underscores or dashes. Search spiders crawl links like these better too because if you can use several-words-to-describe, the search engine gets an idea what the link is about as well.

Just another SEO tip.
