how can i call a variable in html
i need to call a variable $memberID in html

php equivelent function would look like this <a href="file.php?ID<? echo ($memberID) ?>"</a>

so when a user clicks on the link it will display http://www.mysite.com/file.php?ID=1

renaming my file from html to php is not an option at this time.

please help

You could use a server side include, I suppose, but HTML is not dynamic... it's static. HTML is only, as the acronym implies, a markup language. You can't program with it.

Add this:

AddHandler x-httpd-php .html .htm .php

to your .htaccess and have .html & .htm parsed as .php
