I am trying to embed a video file:

the video plays correctly in Internet Explorer but not in Firefox, Opera or Safari (on PC). As soon as the video starts playing, the controls disappear & the video image behind the frame blows up to 4 times the size, leaving only the top left corner visible. On the Mac the video although centered, is slightly larger than the frame & sits outside of it. I am using a standard embedding script (view source in browser).

It works fine for me in FF, but I think your problem is you're encoding it at 640x480. That should match the player size.

I dont understand, please elaborate. I obtained this video as part of a marketing package, so I dont know how it was created, how can I fix it? Why does it work in your Firefox & not mine?

If you right click on the video and select properties, you will see the true size of the video is 640x480 pixels. You are cramming it into a player that is 320x240, half the size. So if there is an odd issue, it will manifest in lots of ways, like showing just a corner. Not to mention, a video at 640x480 will take up a lot of disk space in file size and longer download time for nothing. Do a Google, and you can find some free programs that will compress and resize it.

You were right on the money, I remember from doing HTML that coding errors give unpredictable results. After fiddling around with some software (VirtualDub & Super), I managed to resize the file & now it works.
