If a Meta request appears more than once in a document, will it be overwritten with the last one?

You want the SEO to pick up the keyword in your document several times.

Fewer and fewer crawlers even look at keyword metadata, but those that do either throw out one of the keywords that appears more than once, throw out all keyword metadata if it appears multiple times (ie, padding) or throw out the crawl altogether if the latter is the case.

The most important metadata you need to worry about is the description. Other than that, focus more on content for SEO.

Who knows, who cares?

It's not like the meta keywords is remotely useful for most search engines, unless you have your own that uses meta data.

But for the ones that do, if it isn't where it should be in the document it might not be read.

It might be that if there are several with the same name they might get concatenated or all but one will be ignored.

easiest way to find out, is to test it.

The meta keywords was just an example. I'm really focusing more towards the title.

http://www.webmaster-talk.com/php-fo...ines-code.html

Have a look there to understand more of what i'm doing.

Since the header is shared between all documents, I can't really specify different titles for each page. So i was wondering if i could include it in the body html file instead, therefore overwriting the first one.

Yes you can do that. However, and it's a very big however, Google will NOT pick up and use the title element in the SERPs if it is NOT inside the document head. It will display the text from the first heading element on the page instead. The page does however appear in the results for the title phrase.

Yahoo! and MSN will use the title in their SERPs and obviously show the page in the results.

ASK does NOT even put the page in the results for the specific title phrase search.

Every browser I checked (all the major ones) display the title correctly.

A better way to do this is to modify the header template to use a variable for the title
Code:
<title><?echo $title ?></title>
then have code before the include that sets the variable to whatever value is needed for that page.

By the HTML language standard, any meta information must be placed within the head area. It may work to put it into the html part on certain browsers and search engines, but you cannot rely upon.

See http://www.w3.org/html/ for more.

The title lies within the head, so that's what led into my statement.
