January 22nd 2008: W3C published a working draft for HTML 5. The HTML 5 working group includes AOL, Apple, Google, IBM, Microsoft, Mozilla, Nokia, Opera and many hundred other vendors.
Some of the new features in HTML 5 are functions for embedding audio, video and graphics, client-side data storage, and interactive documents. Other features are new page elements like <header>, <section>, <footer>, and <figure>.
HTML 5 improves interoperability and reduce development costs by making precise rules on how to handle all HTML elements, and how to recover from errors.
Seems great! Your comment please!

I'm liking the draft so far, hope they don't change much in the next few years until the release candidate.

And BTW HTML 5 is not "out" it's just a working draft, when it gets to recommendation stage it is nearly "out".

Given that most browsers still don't support it, I'm not going to knock myself out over a draft. There are some things about HTML 5 that I think are a step backwards rather than forwards too.

If you used XHTML you could convert everything to HTML5 with one xslt

To the main topic, a specification without a reference implementation is just a recipe for disaster (as we've seen with all the previous versions of html/css).

Not all, the first version we had the Web Browser to use.
I use to use XHTML but then realized that using it is something like using PHP mixed with ASP.

nope, not in any way alike.

XHTML is for clients.

PHP/ASP are for specific servers.
