Sorry if this has been asked before, tried searching but no luck.

I am basically looking for a good CMS system - not sure thats the correct term, basically a news system. All I require really is that its easy enough to adapt to a design and it has RSS.

Example of what I am after http://www.fcbarcelonaweb.co.uk/v3/index.html

Just a simple news system really - like joomlas.

Any recommendations?

I highly recommend Wordpress.
The sheer size of the community behind it means that you'll always be well supported, you'll almost always find a plugin that solves your problem, and can generally find a template that'll act as a starting point for your own.

Agreed. As for a template, themelabs has a template called "compact" that's a pretty good starter. Then of course there's the whole list of template tags available at wordpress.org.

I'll put in a vote for wordpress! Very easy to use and the support is excellent!

I'll also add a ntoe for e107. I use this for several sites. They are not just news based, they do support a community, but e107 does have a strong news system integrated into it, as well as RSS. The support forum is usually quite a good place for help for this CMS too. Hope this helps.

If it was just posting news + RSS that you were after I'd definitely say Wordpress. It's a very easy to use tool and can be setup easily. However looking at the example site you posted I'd say go for Joomla. It can do a lot more than Wordpress, although it's correspondingly more complex.

Might want to setup 2 installations, one of Wordpress and one of Joomla, and try them both out. Delete what you don't want to use.

My vote is that you do what Virtuo said and check out that site. No one can tell you what will be just right for you except for yourself, so there's no substitute for playing with them. Drupal, not mentioned here, is also very popular. Personally, I'm too picky for anything out there, so the only solution that's just right for me is my own code.

Cheers lads.

I have tried Joomla (here) since late last night and to be honest, I dont think any of the designs are good enough for me to use as a guide to improve.

My website - Basically just vBulletin forums. Now I have built up a nice little community over the past year I am looking to expand and have a decent design with a good CMS.

Had a quick look at drupal, seems too technical for me.
Cant use wordpress, a competitive website uses it. Same applies to e107
