Right now I have an html document that I'm looking to convert to a jpeg file or to a .pdf, though I realize converting to a .pdf probably involves having adobe software (which I don't, unfortunately, except the reader). Anyway, I have a map that I built on mapbuilder.net and I'm trying to get it into either of the above forms. I saved it from the internet and it went into html format. If you have any suggestions or know of a way to convert that type of file, I would really appreciate your info. Thanks.

yes if you have a adobe photo shop you can do it. Its quiet possible and it means that you need to have the software installed in your machine which happens to be more expensive than adobe writter. You may use the web edition of the photoshop if it helps you.

Open the html file and press "Prnt Scrn" or what ever the letters are on your keyboard that represents print screen. Open up paint go to edit > paste. Edit the file's size as needed, then just save as .jpg.

Here's another idea - if you use Firefox, install the Fireshot extension - it will take a full screenshot of anything, and it takes the FULL page, even if it goes beyond the viewport. Saves me a TON of time.

If you use FIREFOX...it is super simple...

All you need is an extension called SCREENGRAB!

Install that and the icon appears in the bottom right corner...click it and say "save entire page as .PNG"

If you are on a Mac, you simply can click on "Print" and then "Save as PDF". For Windows computers there are screengrabbers available that take over the job (you may look for shareware and demo versions at http://www.download.com)

Another PDF maker software that i use is PrimoPDF (google it) it lets you "Print" to a PDF file. It basically acts as a printer and grabs everything that would be sent to an actual printer and sticks it in a PDF file.

I can see that this suggestion has already been made, but I just want to add my vote to this choice of solution:

pdf printing is the best solution for you if you really don't mind if it's pdf or jpeg

forget macs (if you had one, you'd probably not have asked the question, even secondary askers, merely finding this thread on google later on)

download an instant "pdf printer" addition to your windows machine by going to google and asking for

pdf printer


you can then have a pdf printer installed in seconds (small files are involved, not big ones)

that means that from your web browser you just go to the "print" command and instead of printing to a printer you select the option to print as a pdf... the installation of the software will make that option just appear automatically, you need not be a techie to know where to look... the option will simply present itself (aren't we techies thoughtful in the software we make?). within another few seconds it will have created a pdf file which is simply the web page you were printing, but printed to the pdf file instead of on paper.

I think ALL people should print to pdfs - i do. i don't even bother installing hard printers any more. why waste paper?

pdf printing is so great - whenever you have reports to analyse from various website logs, ad revenue or purchase logs, etc etc, other online accounts, etc, you just send it to the pdf printer

I personally like Alt-Print Screen then CRTL-V paste into your favorite image editor or word or whatever you want.
