OK well I work on a mac. I have two sites that I have been working and all the text looks fine on my mac…But when I viewed the sites on a PC the text looked crappy. It looks much harsher (like its not ant aliased, or at least not anti aliased properly the way mac os renders it. )The confusing thing is not all websites look like that on a PC. Does anyone know what the problem is with this? I have posted to images to demonstrate the issue. And also have the CSS code for my text on page below. Thanks!

BODY {font-family: "Times New Roman", Times,
"New Century Schoolbook", serif;}
H1, H2, H3, H4, H5, H6 {font-family: Arial, Helvetica,
Verdana: sans-serif;

}

Most people on a Windows PC are NOT going to have New Century Schoolbook as a default font - so the browser will substitute with one of the others. Times and Times New Roman, IMO, are not good screen fonts, and plain old serif is just as bad.

There are many differences in video cards and monitors on PCs that can cause text to appear jagged or smooth, and there are Windows settings for font-smoothing that not everyone may have set. There's just a lot of variables between systems, Windows versions, and settings.

The only time I use Times New Roman, etc, is when I'm sending fonts to a printer, or occasionally for a header. Mostly I recommend people not to use them, as mentioned above, because they are difficult to read onscreen. Fonts like Verdana were designed just for the screen and are much easier on the eyes.

I understand that I can do things to make it look better for ME but i would like to make the site in the best available way so the users do not need to do anything for it to look good.

one thing i noticed..

http://baker.kohlerinteriors.com/bak...baker_home.jsp

on a PC it looked alot better...(the small text) Wich led me to believe that I was doing something wrong...
