Ok well I have been taking care of a couple different email blasts. Making them in dreamweaver. Someone told me that some of the email blasts (from other companies) when they open the email the images are all visable and loaded. The email looks great. But when he receives an email from our company he has to click “load images” or something of that sort. I guess there must be some different way of embedding an image into a HTML email to get this result? Anyone have any idea??

From what I understand, that is a setting in the email program. In Yahoo mail, for example, you can set emails from a certain sender to automatically load the images.

Gmail also does this. I think this started originally over concerns that virus makers were making viruses that could be embedded inside of images. This isn't much of a problem anymore since operating systems have improved, but it is still nice to filter out images from emails if you don't want to be bothered with them (I know I often don't care for them).

Are the images embedded or external references?

It's because they are external and many mail clients restrict them.

Using embedded images ensure the images show as they will then be local to the mail client

You might want to check this resource for lots of info on html emails and the restrictions of the most popular email clients: www.campaignmonitor.com

The site LadynRed posted says this:
"Most of the popular email clients enforce image blocking and preview panes these days. Not only will we take screenshots of your design, but we'll take multiple versions with images on, images off and even how your design looks in the horizontal or vertical preview pane."
I don't think you can force an image to show up in every email client no matter how you code the page. Like I said earlier, Yahoo blocks everything unless I tell it to load images from that specific sender, or for that specific email.
