Hi,
I am beginning in HTML programming and was wondering if it is possible
to create a mailing form (eg. enter name and address) then be able to send
this to a mailing address. ÿI am using this a sign up form.

Is this possible to write in HTML code or can it only be done in CGI.

Thanks.

you can create the form in HTML, in fact the form HAS to be HTML but the mail sending functionality has to be done server side.

You dont even have to write it yourself if have never touched a server side language before. Just search on the internet for an email form script and you will find one right away.

+1 for Truly.

There are several free ones (web services) out there. They are pretty easy to setup and a good idea -- so that your visitors can communicate with you.

just had a look at it.
there are 2 options ; the free one is limited to 20 messages/month and the paid one will cost you 30$/month for 5000 messages.
is it me or is it expensive?

anyways, being too lazy and clueless about this, i hired a guy over to do it (costs less then 30$).

if you want to mess with PHP you can use formmail.php, requires a simple configuration in the script and definition of some hidden fields in the form.

You can also use free formmail services available online, long time ago bravenet was offering this kind of services.

It is also a good idea to first check the control panel of your hosting company. Some have form wizards that will automatically generate the code for you or at least provide the form processing information.
