The code for the drop down is (most of which is nulled out because I dont want to delete incase I need it later):
HTML Code:

any thoughts?
and I would also like to know if anyone knows how to center the lists.

When you say "frame", do you mean actual an actual html frameset? If so, that is probably why your drop down looks like it is being blocked.
If you are using frames so that you can keep your menu information all in one file, rather than on multiple pages, a server side include would be a better solution. Then your menu shouldn't look like it is being blocked

I'm completely new to SSI. I've been searching for a tutorial but I cannot find one that is helping me. Are you able to tell me how create it or give me a link to a good tutorial?

Be sure that you have linked it correctly. If you are sure it is linked correctly, can you post your html?

You will need to upload it. The include wont show up until it is parsed by the server.

That has got to be some of the ugliest code I've ever seen just for a drop-down menu. Why on earth are you using frames ???

ok my host supports only php for server side language, which make me even more confused lol. Tried to make some altercations based on the tutorial you left a link to but I couldnt be more confused.
Im using a test website to make sure it works before putting it on my actual site.
Testsite: http://steelers.vndv.com/
I put the ssi in the header of the coding. The ssi should show linked

It looks like you are close.
Don't put your SSI in the head. Put it in the spot where you would put the code if you weren't using an SSI.
Try this:
Code:
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">
<head>
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1" />
<title>Untitled Document</title>
</head>
<body>
<?php include("ssi.php") ?>
Hello
</body>
</html>
Also, be sure that your page ends in .php instead of .html

Normally, yes, for PHP to work the files must be named .php. I name every page on my sites with this extension. However, it is technically only needed for pages that will use scripts or includes.

in that case, is there a way to edit php documents using the design view in dreamweaver. Because once I change it to a .php I can no longer see any fonts or pictures (other than my SSI) until I upload and view it on my host.
