I can't really understand exactly. But yes, if you use too much h2 or any header tags, it is bad for seo. Google will prefer small, dramatic and effective use of the header tags. So limit yourself when using them. Keep it a very small percentage of your text.

For goodness sake!!
Google and other search engines WILL NOT CARE IF EVERY SINGLE WORD OF YOUR TEXT IS IN Hwhatever elements!!!!!!
Just stop the stupidity about what you think Google "prefers"!!
What the search engines "want" and this goes for them ALL is that you create and code your pages FOR USERS

So use heading elements as they should be used and that is for adding structure to the document and delimiting blocks of text in to sections.

Calm down man! You don't help people by shouting. I think practices of SEO are a world of issues. You may think meta tags mean nothing, I may think otherwise. So a lot of people think differently about certain SEO tactics.

Take a look at the first line..
Header Tags In SEO

Chris: I never said make the page look alien. Obviously, keep it organised and USER-friendly.

Ah yes of course we can assume that everything on that pages is absolute.

personally anyone who advocates this
Quote:
<h1 class="heading1">Main Heading</h1><br>
<h1 class="heading2">Sub Heading</h1><br>
<h1 class="heading2">Another Sub Heading</h1>
as being a good idea is certainly NOT to be taken as knowing what they are doing!

It looks like it was written in 1995! somebody tell them the world has moved on since stuff like that worked, do they also suggest that keyword stuffed comment elements will help you rank on AltaVista?

Exite, Lycos and Inktomi ??? Hello?

Just banish all thought of what mis-information that page is full of.

H2 tags are intended to emphasize on certain keywords. If you use them on too many keywords, you would be diluting the keyword importance.

heading tags shouldn't be redundant and emphasize the text below them. They are important for SEO, but you need to structure your page properly. To suggest that they have no SEO value is inaccurate. Used improperly they could be interpreted as spam. Say you have a page:

h1: lawnmowers.

h2: lawnmower blades
stuff about lawnmower blades

h3: lawnmower maintenance
stuff about lawnmower maintenance

etc.

Thats all a good logical flow as long as the text isn't spammy. Stick a link it the text to a relevant page in each section such as a link to lawnmower blades to a page only about lawnmower blades and you are doing good.

You mean we don't believe in dumping ungodly amounts of keywords into random places, then hiding it all conveniently off-page with JavaScript anymore?

That's just ridiculous ! Heading tags are meant to add STRUCTURE to a document, to create a LOGICAL OUTLINE of the page, just as you would any outline on a Word document you might create (provided you know HOW to do a proper outline). You can have all the Hx tags you want, as lot as they are semantically and structurally correct !! Sticking them on a page just for SEO is absolutely the WRONG reason to use Hx tags.

h2 tags should not be used for SEO alone. Remember that SEO may get someone to your site but whether they do something on the site, buy something, or just leave, all depends on how your site looks.
