I don't thing this can be done in html unless using iframe.
If want to use iframe:
rename current index page to index2.html.
Create a new index page: index.html, that will include index2.html in an iframe,

And it's done ! (I think)

Use server side code to insert it into the <title> </title> element.

chris.... i didnt realize until now, i meant address bar, not the title bar.
I do that constantly, getting those two mixed up.

Id prefer not to use iframes or frames...... actually i WONT use either.....

That is really the only way to do it. Why do you want to do it?

ive seen other sites that when you visit, no matter where you go on the site, the address bar always shows www.domain.com

I would think it would be more secure to a certain degree if the user didnt know which directory they were in while they were browsing.

maybe its just me? could i not SEO the urls.... so instead of www.domain.com/sub/file.html, it could just be www.domain.com/file or something like that?

You can't hide the URLs like that, because there has to be a way of translating to the real location. And that's not SEO.

You need to use a frame to accomplish this. It's the only way, short of writing your own web browser and forcing people to use it.

Visitors will still be able to right click, and go to the page properties, to get the real URL. You can't turn off the context menu - I have FireFox set not to allow web sites to do that.

The only ways I can think of that you could do this would be to use iframes or make your entire site in flash. Both of these are bad ideas.
What if someone goes to one part of your site and wants to bookmark it? What if someone wants to send a link to one of your pages to their friend? They would have to go to the main page, then figure out how to navigate to the page they wanted to go in the first place.

I can't see how it would make anything more secure. The only people it would fool are the people who wouldn't know how to use the information in the first place. If anything you're only likely to make someone more curious.

You can use AJAX. That way the content of you site will be dynamic and you will only stay on one page.

I would use iframes... or why not have a "splash" page, where the user clicks a link so that the main site opens up in a new window which doesn't have an address bar??? (achieved by using javascript)

Frames + AJAX to make the entire site on one page! An exciting new technology! Pardon me, I will now return to painting my face with Crayola crayons...
