Hi hopefully this is in the right place, Im looking for some info on how to make one of those rollover menu's like the one on www.nrl.com.au . Its the "Latest news" munu thing where you roll over the title and the information drops down. Sorry I couldn't be more specific as I don't know what they're called.

Also will there be a problem with Google indexing it?

Thanks

As far as I know the main search engines can read Javascript.

The main thing you should think about is people browsing with JS turned off. You may want to put some info in a 'noscript' tag for people with JS turned off so they will still have something to read. If you dont already know about this, I have placed a link about it below.

If it appears in the source as HTML, the search engines will read it. If you're generating the content with JavaScript, then inserting it into the document, the search engines will generally ignore it.

Just to clarify for myself....

I thought the main search engines (aka Google, Yahoo, MSN) were ok reading JS nowadays?

The search engines can read JavaScript, if they want to, and I'm sure they do so in order to flag sites for bad practices. IMO, however, using all content inserted by JavaScript is just going to be bad practice for them, since it raises the ability of the black-hat SEO crowd to spam search engines, since dynamically generated text could then be hidden by some other method. Of course, static text can also be hidden, but I think Google and the others don't want an additional layer of confusion to deal with.
