Converting Frontpage to Dreamweaver

Hi Everyone,

I have a new client and their pages were all done in Frontpage. The first phase is to take all of the website to Dreamweaver. I've been searching the internet and I have found some solutions but I am wondering if anyone on the board has done this before? What type of problems, if any, did you run into? How long did it take you? This site is ten pages and includes a registration form. Any advise would greatly be appreciated.

Thank you!

Rather than 'converting', you'd be better off setting up the new layout structure, and then just pull all the content into the new layout. I'd use HTML Tidy to strip out all the garbage code, making it easier to pull in the content.

I thought that was going to be my answer. I saw a couple posts from about a year ago and they were saying that starting over might be easier. I was hoping, that there was an improvement on converting but I don't think so. I did get a great laugh at a couple of the posts I saw that were just stuck on Frontpage and saying it would be around so much longer - it was a great program. Little did they know that it added tons of code and webbots. Shared Borders? I think I will start from scratch and come up with a budget for them based on a new page in CSS. Sadly, I may have to stick with tables as the headquarters of the organization rules everything. LOL - another client that will rule everything. I think this one will be different, though.. this is a major organization and they really seem to have their stuff together. I've rambled and went off subject.

Chat with you soon I hope!!

I'm in the process of doing this now- infact I have been doing it for months.

I have converted about half of my sites static pages so far from frontpage to dreamweaver. I made one page that I made using css and then copied and pasted all the other info from the pages made with frontpage, making sure not to copy accross all the unnecessary code.

Are there any other good, inexpensive options to moving off of Frontpage, that people have had success with?
thanks in advance.
