Hello guys

Can someone point me in the right direction pls?

I have a few products to sell, and I want the user to see a box with more details about the product when they click on the text link. I think this must be really easy but my mind is blank . Is this going to be a target_blank window just resized to very small and containing a couple of sentences? if so, how do I specify the size of the window?

Ta very much!

And all that will be a waste of time if your visitor has a pop-up blocker installed or has pop-ups blocked in their browser!

You could easily do this same thing, without annoying (and blocked) popup windows using one of the Lightbox variations.

If the popup is started as the result of a click, it will almost never be blocked. However, as LadynRed points out, modal windows, or "Lightbox style" popups are an excellent option. They are also more future proof, as it is hard to say if browser vendors, and popup blocker makers will at some point begin blocking pop-ups that are a result of a click also. There are already advertisers that are taking advantage of this loophole by causing ads to come up as the result of a click anywhere in the window.

Copy an paste it as show; it's getting URL Encoded here, so that's messing it up (because of the parentheses).

Is it possible to just put a bit of js in an html page so that the browser window opens at a particular size in pixels high/wide? I think that's all I need to do.

There are variations, but here's the gist:

In your head tag:
Code:
<script type="text/javascript">
<!--
function popup(thisUrl,thisWidth,thisHeight,thisTop,thisLeft) {
   optionString = ('width=' + thisWidth + ',height=' + thisHeight + ',top=' + thisTop + ',left=' + thisLeft + ',toolbar=no, location=no, directories=no,status=no,menubar=no,resizable=yes,scrollbars=yes');
   mainWin = window.open(thisUrl,"popup_win",optionString);
   mainWin.opener = self;
 }
//-->
</script>
For your link:
Code:
<a href="javascript: popup('MyPage.html', 500, 350, 0, 0);" onmouseover="window.status='Click for more info.'; return true;" onmouseout="window.status=''; return true;" title="Click for more info.">More info.</a>

Well, I must admit, I agree with LadynRed on this one. Using the Lightbox code will make it work very well and look stylish at the same time.
