Interactive Form - HELP!

I'm stumped on this one. I am making a website for a local baseball school and want to make an online scheduling page for lessons. It will basically be a table, with days along the top, and times along the side. Customers will be able to simply click the desired cell with the day and time, and type in their name to sign up. I have limited knowledge on forms, so everything I make is erased when the page is refreshed. To further complicate things, I have limited width for this form, so I'll need scroll bars.

It's basically a booking system. So server side code and a database will be needed

can anyone explain how to set up MySQL within my website? Its a rather simple database, people just need to be able to type in their names and have it stay there. I've never used online databases before so try to keep it simple. As of now, I am designing my website in Dreamweaver MX 2004 and only know how to use HTML. Thanks!

By the way, I just downloaded MySQL, but I have no idea how to set up the table within it, or link it into my site. Also, from what I've learned so far, I only know how to enter data into the table and retrieve it, but how is it entered from the end-user on my site?

If you have a webhotel then you don't need to download mysql. If you have your own server on your pc, then it's server setup, which is complicated, if you don't even know how to set up a databse.

First of all if you don't have a webhotel I would suggest that you buy a webhotel thrue http://www.one.com, they are very cheap!

They have setted mysql and everything up for you. The next step would be to learn either ASP or PHP, I would suggest PHP, and here are a link so you can check out how to do it:
http://www.w3schools.com/PHP/php_intro.asp

This site is how you could learn mysql and how to set the tables and rows up:
http://www.w3schools.com/PHP/php_mysql_intro.asp

Check out these 2 sites and tell me what you think

thanks, I've actually already visited the PHP page you sent me in the time since my last posting, what are the odds? Also, I stumbled upon Lattiss.com, a free appointment service that can be embedded into my site and perform a multitude of functions I wouldnt be able to replicate in a years time, I can't describe the headaches I've avoided!

Well,Crash, you've actually hit on the advice I was going to give. Why re-invent the wheel? Unless you have very unusual requirements that nothing on the market can do it's just not worth the effort of re-making a forum/booking system/[insert other server side] application.

If you want to do it so you can learn and understand how every piece of your website works in detail that's a different matter altogether.
