Conditional Comments not working in IE6

I'm trying to add conditional comments into my page to bring in some particular styles for IE6. When I put in the following code, it doesn't take effect:

Code:
<!--[if lt IE 7 ]>
<link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="/wp-content/themes/ambercare/style.headermenu.ie6.css" />
<style type="text/css">
#header_url {padding-top:10px;}
div#page #blog {margin-top:-5px;}
</style>
<![endif]-->
The site is http://ambercare.ardham.com .

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Looks right to me.

Try removing the space after the "IE 7"
<!--[if lt IE 7 ]> becomes
<!--[if lt IE 7]>

I just made the change and it doesn't seem to be affecting anything. Could the fact that I'm using Wordpress be a cause or a clue?

What you're using to generate the HTML makes no difference whatsoever, as long as your paths are right and the resources exist. However.... do you have the WP-cache plugin active? If so, that could stop new changes from showing up...

Also, it may just be that the style rules you've passed to IE6 are not doing what you expect them to. Try saying body {display: none} to see if the page disappears in IE6. If it does, you'll know the conditional comment is working.

I dunno.. this filename looks weird to me:

style.headermenu.ie6.css

I'd try changing the filename to something more 'normal' and see if that helps.

Not sure I've ever named a CSS file like that, but I name test HTML/PHP files similarly quite frequently, example: "index.test.php", and have never had any problems.

Must be the PHP then.. I'm not familiar with that at all.

Thanks for all the responses!

I tried changing the name and it didn't affect anything. I know that this stylesheet does what I expect because I manually set it as the primary stylesheet while I made the modifications that I wanted for IE6.
I don't understand why it would be the PHP. It shows correctly when I view the generated source in IE or Firefox.

Does anyone else have IE6 and could look at it and see if the top horizontal menu is coming out right?

Oh, and I don't have the WP-Cache plugin installed on this site. I usually put it on sites, but this one didn't have it.

Yes, the header and menu are there. Your bullets on the list at the bottom are missing though.

Clear the cache on your IE6?

I had cleared the cache. I had the IE Dev Toolbar installed and had it set to pull from the server on every refresh. Plus, I would manually clear the cache every so often during troubleshooting just to be sure.

The menu appears with bad alignment on my XP box's IE6. It looks fine in IE6 in a virtual machine on my Vista box, though. I've attached a screenshot from my XP box. Does it look like that to you guys?

No, the Internal part is on the right where it should be using IE6 with XP Pro on the work computer. There's bleed through of the main page visible through the dropdowns, though.
