Things like this are popping up in my stat pages recently as referring sites. I don't see anything with that info when I view the page source on the links.
<removed>

There are a few others too like <removed>

And <removed>

Most are hosted by SEDO.Com or SEDOPARKING.com

I heard about Pay Per Clik deals getting hot recently for domain names and wonder if this may be part of it.

Any ideas are welcome.
Thanks
Eddie

referrer spam is just another of the pointless "machine gun" tactics.

They load bots up with lists of URIs and set them off to leave a "hit" in site logs in the hope that one or more of the sites have their logs publicly available.

blocking them is a never ending task.

Would that be why I started getting referrals from a porn site? I noticed a referral from a site with "sluts" in the name and looked at the site wondering where the link to my site could possibly be? I didn't find one (no surprise, and I didn't spend very long looking I promise!), but the whole thing had me puzzled as to why it happened. Is the the same kind of technique?

Thanks Chris. Great info. I googled the www's that are at the front and there's a bunch of people's public logs that show the www and whose ever website it happens to be a log of.

I guess making the log password encrypted might be the thing to do.

Yep exactly the same reason and in the case of porn sites, they are running CPM ads so the curious website owners going and looking why or where they have a link, gets them another impression on the very many banners they have running
